Town of New Market Mayor & Town Council

The Town Council is comprised of six members, including the Mayor.  All are elected for the same four year term. The next election will occur in May of 2013.

The regular Town Council meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month with special meetings as required. Meetings are held in Town Hall, 39 W. Main Street.  Regular meetings begin at 7:00 p.m.

Town of New Market Planning & Zoning

The Planning and Zoning Commission is comprised of seven members, one of whom is an ex officio member who also serves on the Town Council. The Planning & Zoning Board meets the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in Town Hall, 39 W. Main Street.  The current members of the board are:

Historic District Commission/Architectural Review Committee

The HDC/ARC Committee has four members as well as Town Council and P&Z liaisons. Members are appointed by the Mayor and Council. The board reviews the following types of activities:  Signs, Color Change, Roof/Siding/Shutters, Landscaping, Fence, Deck/Patio, Porch, Garage, Door/Windows.  If you have any questions, please contact Karen at Town Hall (301.865.5544)

Town of New Market Board of Supervisor of Elections 

The Board of Supervisor of Elections is made up of three members who serve for a four year term. The current board term ends March of 2013.

Town of New Market Board of Appeals
